Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Assist with group swim lessons for participants of all ages and abilities following American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim program curriculum.

POSITION REPORTS TO: Aquatics Supervisor

DIRECT REPORTS ASSIGNED: 0

JOB LOCATION: Community Center, 100 Wulfsohn Road, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

CATEGORY: Part-time

HOURS: Up to 29 hours per week

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assist Group Swim Instructor in lesson plan preparation for group swim lessons.Gather, stage, and return necessary equipment.Assist participants with skills practice.Maintain a safe and inviting learning environment.Communicate with participants and parents/guardians of participants before and/or after swim lessons the information to be covered, any areas of excellence or needed improvement, and plans for the next swim lesson.Distribute Program Feedback forms to participants or parents/guardians at end of session.Positively interact with and provide exceptional customer service to the general public.

EDUCATION, TRAINING & CERTIFICATIONS:

Necessary:
  • Must be 14 years of age or older.
  • Must have current First Aid/CPR/AED or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire.


Qualifications

Must be at least 14 years old and able to complete First Aid/CPR/AED training within 90 days of hire. Demonstrate the ability to perform front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke and butterfly.
