Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Fitness and Wellbeing Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fitness training, nutrition, and holistic wellness practices. As a Fitness and Wellbeing Specialist, you will play a key role in developing and implementing customized fitness programs, providing expert guidance on nutrition, and supporting clients in achieving their health and wellness goals. Manage and supervise assigned recreation program areas and events for the Parks & Recreation Department.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, organize, schedule and supervise assigned recreation program areas, events and facilities including athletics, fitness, aquatics, cultural arts programs, camps, adaptive recreation programs, and instructional classes.
Foster community involvement in support of assigned program areas including public and private partnerships, local and national agencies, school districts, not-for-profit boards and special interest groups, and other municipal agencies.
Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate recreation staff for the assigned recreation program areas (regular, seasonal, part-time and/or volunteer).
Ensure the safety and well being of program participants by performing extensive screening of personnel. Manage and coordinate recreation staff training in appropriate safety practices and health risk issues for the assigned program areas.
Monitor and evaluate the quality, responsiveness, efficiency and effectiveness of assigned recreation program areas.
Make recreation program presentations to the public, City Council, and others in the community.

Experience and Education Guidelines: Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is acceptable. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be:

Experience: Three to five years of increasingly responsible experience in recreation programming including two to three years of administrative or supervisory experience.

Education: Equivalent to a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Recreation Administration, Leisure Services, or a related field.
