Job Description

What You'll Be Doing

An integral part of Housing leadership, the Research, Data and Systems (RDS) Division Director is responsible for leading the Department’s data strategies. This includes standardized data collection protocol and innovative management practices which empower the department and community partners to use data to improve service delivery and program performance. The RDS Division identifies and implements dynamic data tools for improved reporting, analytics, or communication.

The Division Director will have knowledge of techniques and products to efficiently gather and report data for program compliance, funding opportunities, community engagement efforts and annual reporting. They will establish research and engagement methods to enhance programs and inform new initiatives. The RDS Division also operates the Landlord Engagement Unit which matches renters and landlords through a robust housing database to ensure fair and accessible housing is available.

Wake County’s Department of Housing Affordability and Community Revitalization goal is to ensure that quality affordable housing is available and accessible for all Wake County residents. As the population and economy continue to grow in Wake County, the need for affordable housing development and preservation increases. Not only do more units of affordable housing need to be built, housing services must be provided to support families and individuals to access or maintain safe, decent, affordable housing. Affordable housing is also critical to preserving Wake County’s economic competitiveness by offering housing for workers at all income levels, supporting housing stability and economic opportunity for its residents and furthering Wake County’s commitment to healthy and inclusive growth. The Department’s programs include: Community Revitalization, Development Financing, Homeless and Prevention Services, Emergency Shelter, Support Services and Permanent Supportive Housing.

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Research, Social Work, Public Administration, Business, Urban Planning or related field
  • Six years of experience in research, policy and/or management analysis including at least two years of supervisory experience
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted


Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)

  • Master’s Degree in Research, Social Work, Public Administration, Business, Information Technology or related field
