Job Description and Duties

The Assessment Consultation Team (ACT) in the Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Human Resources is seeking a highly motivated Associate Personnel Analyst with expertise in the areas of human resources, candidate selection, and industrial/organizational psychology. The Assessment Consultant will use analytical skills to develop, validate, and administer innovative pre-employment hiring assessments for the various Divisions/Bureaus within the DOJ.

The Assessments Consultant will regularly consult with DOJ hiring managers and stakeholders to provide expertise and assistance on selection processes, practices, and tools and must be able to facilitate conversation with others in a professional manner. They will develop various forms of selection tools and resources, including, interview materials, application screening matrices, interactive performance exercises, and online multiple-choice tests. They will also assist the team’s Research Data Analysts and the Staff Services Manager I with post-assessment analyses of test performance data and will assist with data interpretation using Classical Test Theory and other descriptive and inferential statistics. Creativity and a willingness to learn new topics and job-related skills are highly desirable!

The Assessment Consultant is expected to be responsible, professional, and self-motivated, and regularly contribute to team efforts to evaluate and improve ACT procedures and processes. They will also provide regular assistance to the Examinations unit and must be willing to participate in assignments and tasks that support various DOJ programs and initiatives. They will manage a workload where assignments and deadlines might conflict or suddenly change. The Assessment Consultant will work closely with all levels of personnel within the DOJ and will regularly collaborate with their ACT team members, colleagues, supervisors, and subject-matter experts.

Working Conditions
This position has been designated as eligible for telework and is currently a remote-centered position. The position may however require in-person attendance when requested. The selected candidate would report to Department of Justice Headquarters in Sacramento if/when required to attend mandated in-person meetings, trainings, etc. Expenses related to travel to the office for required events are the responsibility of the employee. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time.
