Currently there are two positions available: one full-time Associate Civil Engineer and one part-time Associate Engineer . Successful candidates will be placed on an eligibility list that may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.

SELECTION COMPONENTS:
  • Application Evaluation: Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis with the first review date of June 4, 2024 . In order for the application package to be considered complete, candidates are required to attach their resume to their online application.   • Interview: Candidates deemed most qualified as reflected in their online application will be invited to an interview tentatively schedule for Thursday, June 27, 2024.

SCHEDULE:

  • Associate Civil Engineer Full- Time Schedule : This position may work a 5/40, 9/80, or 4/10 schedule.
  • Associate Engineer Part- Time Schedule : This position may work up to 32 hours per week.


SALARY:
  • Associate Civil Engineer Full- Time : $8,312 - $ 12,273 (monthly)
  • Associate Engineer Part- Time : $ 44.83 - $66.29 ( hourly)

The career path for this position includes: Associate Civil Engineer, Civil Engineer, Senior Civil Engineer, and Principal Civil Engineer.

RETIREMENT:
The City offers an excellent benefit package and membership in the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS). The retirement formula is based on appointment date and membership status with CalPERS and the employee is required to contribute 11.5% of pay toward the retirement benefit.

Experience & Education and License/Certificate

A combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience : T wo years of increasingly responsible professional civil engineering experience.

Education : Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field.

License/Certificate : Due to the performance of some field duties which require the operation of a personal or City vehicle, a valid and appropriate California driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.

Associate Civil Engineer: A valid certificate of registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) from the State of California is required.
