Maintains facilities that thousands of visitors use each year and educate visitors on how to protect this special site. Under the direction of the Park Superintendent, this position performs highly complex (senior-level) supervisory maintenance and construction work and is responsible for Lead Maintenance duties at Hueco Tanks State Park and Historic Site. Serves as the team leader for maintenance staff and park volunteers, giving guidance, scheduling work and assisting with daily maintenance and repairs of facilities, grounds and equipment. Serves as the site's Utility Plant Operator (UPO), performing oversight, routine maintenance, regulatory compliance duties and repair of the site's water system and other utilities as needed. Performs report preparation, training of staff, general maintenance and custodial duties, purchasing, revenue collection, issuing permits, visitor orientation and customer service. Assists with enforcing park rules and regulations through voluntary compliance, performs resource management tasks and educates visitors on the natural and cultural resources of the park. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures. Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Graduation of High School or GED. Experience: Four years of facility, equipment or grounds maintenance experience; Two years experience as a supervisor or team leader, which may include oversight of paid staff, volunteers, or alternative workforces. NOTE: Experience may have occurred concurrently. Licensure: Applicant must possess a valid State driver's license. Must possess or be able to obtain, within one year of employment, a class "D" Water and/or Wastewater license issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). NOTE: Retention of position contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required license and compliance with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality's (TCEQ) Criminal Conviction Guidelines.
