    Position Summary

    Are you passionate about athletics and eager to contribute to a dynamic university environment? As the Athletics Development Coordinator, you will support the Athletic Development team under the direction of the Executive Associate Athletic Director of Development. Your role will involve providing essential clerical and administrative support, handling communications, preparing documents and presentation materials, and maintaining databases and filing systems. Additionally, you will coordinate fundraising activities and special events, build relationships with Aztec donors, alumni, and the San Diego community, and manage travel arrangements, expense requests, travel claims, credit card reconciliations, and calendar management.

    • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with alumni, parents, donors, students, and the community to generate private support for diverse programs.
    • Event Management: Coordinate and manage events, ensuring successful execution and positive experiences for all participants.
    • Compliance and Development: Ensure adherence to compliance regulations and support the development of new initiatives to advance the department’s goals.
    • Program Management: Oversee and support the operations of various sport programs, ensuring the success and well-being of student-athletes.

    Position Information
    • This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits-eligible, temporary position lasting one year from the start date, with an anticipated end in December 2025 and the possibility of reappointment.
    • Position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
    • Standard work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
    • The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

    The Department of Athletics at San Diego State University oversees a comprehensive intercollegiate athletics program, supporting numerous sport programs and student-athletes with the help of a dedicated team of employees. Our offices include The Aztec Club, Administration, Athletic Medicine, Business Office, Compliance, Corporate Sales, Development, Equipment, Event Management/Facilities and Operations, Information Technology, Marketing, Media Relations, Strength and Conditioning, Student-Athlete Academic Support Services, Ticket Office, and Video.

    Education and Experience

    Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.

    These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.

    Licenses and/or Certifications

    Valid California Driver’s License or have the ability to obtain one within 10 days of hire.

    Key Qualifications
    • Negotiation and persuasion skills to achieve results and expedite projects.
    • Experience in planning Events.
    • Experience with data entry and updating database records.
    • Demonstrated ability to make complex decisions and problem-solve.
    • Experience with CRM Advance database and/or similar database is preferred.

    Compensation and Benefits

    Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $4,261 per month.

    Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

    CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,058 - $6,653 per month.
