Position Description:
Duties:- Maintenance and repair of road construction equipment and vehicles.
- Completion of written work orders concerning the type of work performed and parts and materials used.
- Performs minor engine repair work.
- Operates equipment as necessary to determine if equipment is operating properly.
- Operates equipment as necessary to move equipment to and from the worksite.
- Operates and/or assists in the operation of equipment during periods of emergencies.
- Ability to learn to operate a dump truck with snow plow.
Brief Description:- Maintenance and repair of road construction equipment and vehicles.
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Ohio Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A Subject to DOT regulations. Safe driving record. Any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work of this class. Three years of experience performing mechanical maintenance and repair on engines and transmissions of heavy equipment powered by gasoline and diesel combustion engines.
Additional Qualifications (Agency/Dept. Qualifications):
Additional Knowledge of standard practices and tools used in the repair of motorized equipment; knowledge of the principals of internal combustion engines; knowledge of the construction, assembly, adjustment and maintenance of a wide variety of gasoline and diesel combustion engines; knowledge of electrical wiring and repair principals including the use and application of electrical testing equipment; ability to diagnose motor defects; ability to read, understand and follow equipment repair manuals; ability to use and operate a variety of mechanical tools and equipment; ability to prepare brief written reports; ability to operate equipment to test post-mechanical repair; basic knowledge of computerized spreader systems; ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, and the general public; perform other duties as required.
Compensation:
Salary: $28.06 - $31.39 (Union Contract) Commensurate with experience
