    The City of Fort Worth seeks a Senior Professional Engineer to serve on a dynamic team responsible for Vision Zero implementation. If you enjoy interacting with the public and developing innovative approaches to meeting community’s safety needs, this role is for you! The Planning/Engineering team serves a critical role in receiving traffic safety concerns, coordinating field investigations and data collection, and recommending and implementing infrastructure solutions. The Sr. Professional Engineer will also play a pivotal role in the implementation of the City’s Vision Zero Safety Action Plan once adopted. The Plan includes a suite of 34 policy and program improvements as well as 10 infrastructure projects that will help the City eliminate traffic fatalities and serious injuries.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or related field.
    • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible professional civil engineering experience, of which two years is in performing traffic safety studies or implementation of traffic safety countermeasures
    • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. (If licensed in another state, continued employment will be contingent upon obtaining registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas within six months of employment).
    • A valid Driver's License.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience applying the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, Highway Capacity Manual and AASHTO Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets to safety projects.
    • Experience applying to the National Association of City Transportation Officials Design Guidelines to safety projects
    • Experience performing safety studies and implementing safety projects

    The Sr. Professional Engineer - Transportation job responsibilities include:
    • Provide leadership and supervision to a team of graduate engineers and engineering technicians
    • Develop safety countermeasure concepts and coordinate with contractors and department teams to implement safety projects
    • Perform project management including developing, managing, and controlling scopes, schedules, and budgets in support of the team’s Annual Work Plan
    • Responsible for utilizing VueWorks Enterprise Asset Management System to plan, track, and maintain accurate records of new installations and work performed on existing transportation assets.
    • Perform procurement for and development of neighborhood safety contracts for which you will serve as the compliance manager

    Medical Program

    The City offers two plan options through Meritain Health, an Aetna company.

    Vacation

    Available on the first day of employment, the city provides employees with paid holidays, including two personal holidays.

    Wellness Program

    The city’s Healthy Challenge Wellness Program rewards all full-time, benefit-eligible employees on the city’s health insurance. The Healthy Challenge Program utilizes a points system. Participants may earn points throughout the year (Jan. 1-Dec. 15) for completing specific program activities and participants can redeem points at the end of the year for a cash reward. By participating, individuals can earn $150, $200 or $250 by accumulating program points.
