Why you’ll love this position:The Bureau of Health Care Analyis and Data Dissemination is seeking a research analyst to work with and describe Missouri health data. This mid-level position will work as part of a collaborative team working with patient abstract system (PAS) data which collects information about hospital inpatient, ER and outpatient data. This position will work to compile the final file and answer data requests related to it. The position will also focus on analyzing data for drug overdose surveillance specifically. This includes meeting the CDC Overdose Data to Action (OD2A) grant deliverables and working with Missouri's Drug Overdose Dashboard. The postion will also assist in some cancer surveillance data projects. The position requires data management, statistical and analytical skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, stakeholders and the general public. This position may require occasional overnight travel for meetings, conferences or trainings.
- Submit grant deliverables specific to the OD2A grant such as non-fatal drug overdose data.
- Collaborate with other Research Analysts in compiling the Patient Abstract System data into a final annual file.
- Assist in answering PAS specific data requests .
- Support the Department’s web-based data reporting tools such as the Drug Overdose Dashboard and the Missouri Public Health Information Management System (MOPHIMS). These activities include ensuring data quality and system functionality and responding to data requests.
- Coordinate with the Missouri Hospital Association in conducting the annual hospital utilization and revenue surveys. This includes working with facilities to complete the survey and conducting analysis and answering data requests related to the annual data file.
- Develop reports and presentations in conjunction with other analysts and managers in the unit.
- Conduct analysis related to Missouri Cancer Registry data including completing an annual linkage between hospital discharge and Missouri Cancer Registry files.
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree. Transcripts are required.
- At least two years of experience with data and analysis. Advanced education may be used as a substitute in applicable situations.
- Experience with spreadsheets and word processing programs such as Excel and Word as well as other PC desktop resources.
- Experience with SAS or other statistical software and general programming techniques is highly desirable but not required.
- Interest in data presentation and data visualization software is helpful.
- Highly organized and detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
