    Duties Description

    Under the supervision of the Administrative Specialist Trainee 2, SG-NS or designee, the incumbent will be responsible for various duties specific to payroll and personnel. This position involves confidential information which will require discretion and maintenance of privacy. The payroll/personnel duties include, but are not limited to:
    • Entering and processing new and rehire employee paperwork.
    • Entering and auditing seasonal payrolls.
    • Assisting employees with payroll and personnel issues.
    • Updating employee accident reports.
    • Answering the phone and responding to inquiries.
    • Processing mail and filing documents.
    • Understanding and communicating health insurance and retirement benefits.

    Minimum Qualifications

    There are no Civil Service minimum qualifications.

    OPERATING NEEDS:
    • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
    • Must have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task.
    • Must have basic computer knowledge in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Outlook, and Excel.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Experience with Statewide Financial System (SFS).
    • Customer service experience.

    State parks and historic sites are staffed by a core of permanent employees who work year-round to maintain these precious resources.
