    Job Description

    Join a high-impact team supporting workforce development and transportation safety across Texas. Under the direction of the Transportation & Heavy Equipment Training Manager, the Training Coordinator plays a key role in scheduling, organizing, and delivering training across the CDL, transportation/highway safety, and heavy equipment programs. This position is responsible for coordinating instructors, managing client relationships, monitoring course quality, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.     Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Two years of related experience in project coordination and management to include one year of supervisory experience.


    Equivalency: Will consider an associate’s degree with four years of related experience in project coordination and management to include one year of supervisory experience or a High School Diploma or GED with six years of related experience in project coordination and management to include one year of supervisory experience.

    Required Licenses/Certifications:
    • Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
    • Must maintain Texas Department of Public Safety and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requirements for Designated Responsible Person.


    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Current Class A commercial driver's license or the ability to obtain Class A CDL within one year of employment (Program provided training).
    • Ability to obtain TDPS CDL 3rd party examiners certificate within one year.


    Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and environmental conditions.
    • Must be physically able to set up classrooms and operate training equipment.
    • Must be able to lift, carry, load, or unload up to 50 lbs.
    • Must be able to travel independently to other and/or remote locations via driving and/or flying on commercial airlines.


    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Ability to learn a working knowledge of Texas Department of Public Safety and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and video applications specifically Teams, Webex, and Zoom.
    • Knowledge of principles and methods for teaching and instructing individuals and groups.
    • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently or in teams.
    • Must be able to interact with clients and staff positively and professionally within groups of various sizes.
    • Demonstrate commitment to customer service, safety, and continuous improvement.
    • Business development mindset with the ability to promote training programs effectively.
    • Ability to assist in the design of new course curriculum and update the current curriculum.
    • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.


    Equipment:
    • Standard office equipment: computer, keyboard, multifunctional printer, telephone.
    • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary.
    • Commercial vehicles and heavy equipment (Backhoe, excavator, forklift, front-end loader, skid steer, etc.)
    • Instructional materials and hands-on training props.


    Notifications:
    • This position is security sensitive.
    • This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.
    • This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TEEX regulations and procedures.
    • All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and Agency safety requirements.
    • As part of TEEX’s mission of providing training, developing practical solutions, and saving lives; this position could be required, if called upon, to deploy within the State of Texas as directed by this position’s Division Director/HQ Department Head.


    Essential Duties, Tasks, and Percentages:

    Coordinate training for the Commercial driver’s license program - 40%
    • Will serve as Designated Responsible Person for Texas CDL testing program.
    • Design, develop, coordinate, and conduct Texas CDL training to include the approval process to be an approved training provider for Federal Motor Carrier Administration.
    • Coordinate all aspects for Texas CDL testing to include scheduling examinees, examiners, and site approvals.
    • Assists staff with the review and updating of program curriculum.
    • Periodically monitors instructors and course deliveries.
    • Markets Agency and Division programs and events to potential customers and students.
    • Assists program business development by helping customers and students determine training and technical assistance needs.
    • Responds to customer leads, build and maintain relationships with program customers and students.


    Coordinate training for the Transportation & Heavy Equipment program - 40%
    • Conduct instructor and course audits to ensure compliance with the terms of Texas Department of Public Safety/Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration.
    • Coordinate exams and assists in the preparation of the training schedule that includes instructor assignments.


    Administrative Support - 20%
    • Collect and manage all required documentation on examinees.
    • Submit monthly reports to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
    • As required, must maintain the monthly financial and course delivery progress report.
    • Participates in the hiring, training and assigns tasks to staff and may provide supervision.
    • Supervises assigned staff, evaluates performance, provides coaching, feedback, and addresses issues, as necessary.
    • Actively coordinate and participate in team meetings and events.


    Other Duties:
    • Participate in professional development opportunities.
    • Maintains a clean and professional appearance and work area.
    • Maintain and safeguard assigned divisional equipment and property.
    • Performs additional work duties as assigned.
