    • The office for this position is located at the Harry S. Truman State Office Building, 301 W High Street, Jefferson City, MO. 65101.

The scope of activities includes helping the organization optimize costs and mitigate risks. He or she focuses on understanding and applying existing, new, and emerging technologies to transform and optimize IT's daily operations. The Chief of IT Operations responds to disruptive forces by helping IT leaders facilitate the decision-making process and providing actionable recommendations on initiatives and policies to help the organization drive targeted business outcomes.

    This position is with the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (OA-ITSD).

    • Oversee all daily IT operations.
    • Develop 1,3, and 5-year roadmaps for all IT infrastructure.
    • Oversee IT operations policies and procedures.
    • Provide disaster recovery services for all IT systems.
    • Oversee daily operations and integrations with 3rd party IT services and solutions.


    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience, including managing large-scale IT operations and teams.
    • Knowledge of business ecosystems, SaaS, infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), SOA, APIs, open data, microservices, event-driven IT, and predictive analytics.
    • Familiarity with information management practices, system development life cycle management, IT services management, agile and lean methodologies, infrastructure and operations, and EA and ITIL frameworks.
    • Exceptional soft and interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation.
    • Strong leadership skills.
    • Excellent analytical and technical skills.
    • Excellent written, verbal, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to articulate new ideas and concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences.
    • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
    • Knowledge of all components of IT infrastructure and operations.
    • Successful background check results are required for employment in this position. This may include background checks involving a candidate’s name and/or fingerprints and other screenings as needed for the specific position.

    The classification for this position is Designated Principal Assistant.
