DescriptionThis classification is used in multiple City departments. Current vacancies are within the
Department of Health and Human Services . Under supervision, provides administrative assistance in a staff capacity to the City department or agency heads by performing a wide range of increasingly responsible and difficult professional and technical duties leading to the effective operation of the department. Under general supervision, the Administrative Analyst will support the department by assisting with research, special projects, event coordination and other studies related to Family Childcare Network. Assist in performance of routine and technical daily operations of the division, including answering routine daily correspondence from providers, department leadership, and other departments. Assist with direct service needs of youth and families, including but not limited to; program delivery, intakes, referrals, and support in navigating available resources. Assist in preparation of departmental reports, data collection, department reports. Act as a constructive team-player in elevating and marketing the operations of the division. Performs related work as required.
The hours of work are 40 per week. This classification is a CHPEA union position.
Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesThe examination will consist of a rating of your training and experience as contained on your application and may include a written test, an oral test, a performance test, or a combination thereof. All parts of the examination, including tests and ratings, will be related to the requirements of the position. The examination is designed to measure:
Knowledge of:
- The principles and practices of modern public administration, preferably as it relates to local government.
- Municipal, state, and federal government powers and purposes.
- The basic principles of public financial management and statistical techniques.
Ability to:
- Express ideas effectively in oral and written form;
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with municipal officials, department heads, employees, and the general public;
- Learn operational objectives, methods and procedures of City departments or agencies.
Qualifications Open to all applicants who meet the following qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in public administration, business administration, political science, economics, or a closely-related field. Wherever possible, appropriate equivalents will be considered.
An equivalent combination of not less than four (4) full years of education and/or work experience may be substituted for college graduation. A substitutable year of education will normally be interpreted as the achievement of not less than 30 course credit in courses above the high school level and related to the public administration curriculum. A substitutable year of work experience will normally be interpreted as full-time responsible administrative work assessed on the basis of 1,820 work hours annually.
