    The Missouri Tiered Supports Team is seeking a motivated person to fill the position of Positive Supports Consultant (PSC). Staff in this role provide training and instruction to DMH-DD contracted providers on implementation of Tier 1 systems of support: Missouri Tiered Supports . In addition to meetings and data analysis, PSCs facilitate a instructional opportunities for division staff, provider teams, and family members of supported individuals.

    Tiered Supports: is an organizational behavior management framework meant to guide provider organizations in their develop and maintenance of universal support systems for their staff and the people they support. Team members provide professional development and support on a variety of subjects such as building an agency team, system development, databased decision-making, coaching and training, and Person-Centered Planning.

    Tools of Choice (ToC): Tools of Choice (ToC) is an evidence-based program focused on competency and implementation of universal positive practices. The16-hour, self-paced training combines live, virtual practice workshops hosted by certified ToC facilitators alongside prerequisite interactive web-based modules. ToC Competency includes completion of all ToC training components as well as one-on-one coaching from a competency trained coach. Facilitators must feel comfortable with public speaking to a variety of audiences, as well as engaging participants in role playing scenarios, and providing feedback.

    Knowledge and Skills :

    • Knowledge of a variety of disabilities, and positive behavior support principles (PBS) and practices

    • Knowledge of facilitation models such as but not limited to: Behavioral Skills Training, “I do, We do, You do,” Effective Feedback practices (positive, constructive)

    • Organizational , and time management expertise

    • General Computer skills (especially with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, WebEx)

    • Skills in public speaking (4 - 200 people) and flexibility to train a variety of concepts and materials
    • Bonus: knowledge on the following applications: Humanitix, Eventbrite, or other event management programs


    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Special Notes:

    • Special training and/or formal course work in Positive Behavior Supports and Behavioral Systems Analysis must be completed prior to, or within 12 months of, accepting the position.

    • Applicants must be eligible for designation as a QDDP under Federal standards for an Intermediate Care Facility-Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID)

    Responsibilities include:

    • Facilitating professional development trainings with provider agencies in their implementation of universal systems of support, to improve the quality of life for people they support. Trainings include Tools of Choice (PBS), Coaching using Best Practices, Organizational Culture, Policy Development, Process Mapping, Networking events, etc.
    • Public speaking to a variety of audiences, as well as engage participants in role playing scenarios and provide feedback.


    • Presenting with provider teams at the annual Tiered Supports Summit (groups of 50-100).

    • Managing schedule programs.

    • Maintaining detailed records, tracking, and preparing reports on training participants

    • Communicating positively and effectively with supported individuals and families, co-workers, division staff, and service providers, in order to foster a successful working relationship with all entities.

    Four or more years of service as a QDDP, Tiered Agency team member or coach, ToC facilitator, or special education professional. Bachelor’s Degree in behavior analysis, social work, psychology, recreational therapy, or other human service-related field preferred but not required.
