About the PositionPerforms entry level civil engineering work, environmental engineering, and/or scientific related work in the technical evaluation of basic to moderately complex water and reclamation infrastructure and the associated regulatory requirements.
Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $36.64/hour or $76,169.60 /annually . Minimum QualificationsEducation and Experience- A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited educational institution in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or the Biological Sciences (Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science) or a related scientific degree.
- Six months' experience in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources, or scientific analysis in the public or private sectors.
- An equivalent combination of education and job-related experience may substitute for the educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.
Licensing, Credentials and Other Requirements- Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on division/department/section assignment.
Essential FunctionsPerforms duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following:
- Performs studies of a technical nature and prepares written reports.
- Conducts basic to moderate engineering research and analysis related to water and sewer infrastructure.
- Prepares infrastructure design documents for small public infrastructure improvement projects.
- Analyzes design and construction plans and related documents for public capital improvements projects and private development (and re-development) projects in the City.
- Functions as a project manager for improvement plans from the initial submittal through the construction phase.
- Conducts field and site visits for plan verification.
- Reviews private development requests for compliance with engineering principles and City regulations and policies governing the various engineering disciplines and issues.

- Most work is performed in a City office environment, with occasional field settings. Lift and carry materials, plans and reports weighing up to 30 pounds.

- Travel to/from meetings and various City locations.
