Why you’ll love this position: The Office of Special Education monitors the implementation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) by local education agencies to ensure that all children with disabilities have access to a free and appropriate public education.
- Data research, analysis, and support related to Part B (ages 3-21) and Part C (ages birth-3) of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
- Data analysis and support related to the Special Education State Performance Plan/Annual Performance Report indicators.
- Data analysis and visualizations using analytic tools such as Tableau.
- Data analysis and support related to special education monitoring functions, including, but not limited to, monitoring reviews, discipline reviews, disproportionality reviews, and determinations.
- Data analysis for purposes of informing the evaluation of improvement activities and initiatives supported by the Office of Special Education.
- Provide technical assistance via email, telephone, webinars, documentation, and training to Missouri school districts and early intervention providers regarding data collections in order to increase the accuracy of special education data.
- Perform various statistical analyses of special education data to ensure data integrity and reliability among all Missouri school districts/early intervention providers.
- Manage data collections and collaborate with other agencies in order to compile the annual Blindness Literacy Report and the Newborn Hearing Screening report.
- Develop queries and analyses to respond to internal and external special education data requests.
- Maintain special education data collection process/history documentation.
- Review, monitor, and recommend improvements to instruments designed to collect data.
- Perform queries and provide periodic reports based on analysis of progress/slippage related to improvement initiatives, compliance initiatives, business operations, or other areas as assigned.
- Assist in developing data reports and applying statistical analysis, business analytics, and systems analysis to inform decisions about the efficiency and effectiveness of the work of sections and state operated programs.
- Provide appropriate training in data analysis and advice on what data are available/needed for directors to improve their business outcomes.
- Collaborate across the agency to facilitate data integration efforts.
- Lead and/or participate on internal/external committees, counsels, and workgroups, as requested.
- Attend local, regional, statewide, and national meetings related to job duties, as requested.
- Perform other related work as assigned.
- Demonstrate regular, reliable, and engaged attendance.
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in public or business administration, education, education administration, educational statistics, special education, computer science, mathematics, finance, or a related field.
OR - Four years of professional experience in data collection, manipulation, design, and monitoring.
