    Directly develop, design, implement and manage a vocational program that will provide technical instruction and supervision to offenders interested in completing a tattoo apprenticeship to become a licensed tattooist.

    Managing the licensed body art establishment application process ensuring that the tattoo establishment meets all requirements as outlined by the Division of Professional Registration

    Purchase the necessary equipment to implement the apprenticeship and manage the apprenticeship application process for the offenders ensuring the applicants meet the requirements

    Design the curriculum to provide the technical and safety aspects associated with tattooing ensuring that the coursework includes information on blood borne pathogens, the prevention of disease transmission, infection control, and aseptic technique

    Deliver the designed curriculum to the participants of the program as well as supervise their tattooing experiences and track their hours/procedures towards the apprenticeship

    Act as a liaison with the body art and tattoo community to assist incarcerated people who successfully complete this program to find employment

    Maintains equipment in good operating condition and in accordance to manufacturer's safety standards; assists in/develops lesson plans; prepares pre-assessment evaluations; establishes learning objectives in accordance with program goals; maintains discipline in accordance with established policies; orders supplies; maintains inventory and other records

    Teaches pro-social behavioral patterns conducive to success including safety/health/ethics/employability/ related skills; exercises increasing independence in the performance of responsibilities; performs other related work as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Must be a Licensed Tattooist with the ability to supervise practitioners working through the tattoo apprenticeship AND possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency

    All requested documents MUST be received by the closing date listed.

    Some positions are eligible for a shift differential of $173.34 semi-monthly, which is provided to employees with shifts that begin on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am, and who work at a 24/7 worksite (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center), or whose work requires regular visits to these locations. If selected for interview, eligibility may be discussed at that time with the hiring manager.

    The Department of Corrections currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years!
