This position will be located at the St. Louis Regional Office: 1390 Timberlake Manor Parkway, Chesterfield, MO 63017 .
- Collaborate and coordinate with the Regional Director to support and implement St. Louis Regional Office initiatives.
- Manage the St. Louis Regional Office’s Drinking Water and Wastewater Sections, which include the Public Drinking Water Unit, the Water Pollution Unit and the Stormwater, Compliance, and Assistance Unit.
- Directly supervise 3 Unit Chiefs, indirectly supervise 16 non-supervisory team members. Review written reports and letters for each technical area, to ensure they meet technical and quality standards as per all applicable policy and directives.
- Provide guidance, directions, and support on water and wastewater technical work. Assist in the identification and management of high profile, complex environmental, or technical issues.
- Assist in communications with other department programs and agencies that interact with the St. Louis Regional Office, as directed. Respond to requests for input and other information from the programs or department management. In coordination with the Regional Director, respond to special requests from programs, citizens, elected officials, special interest groups, and management.
- Assist the Regional Director in the annual work planning and budget processes. Identify and communicate resources needed for the effective administration of the work of the Water Section.
- Manage citizen concerns and ensure excellent responsiveness and documentation. Monitor progress toward goals through tracking and metrics and assist in managing the section to meet the annual workplan targets and demand goals.
- Participate as requested in the hiring process. Support supervisors in training new team members. Evaluate training needs and assist in performance management.
- Manage the section to ensure compliance with department, program, and Regional Office policies and procedures.
- Assist the St. Louis Regional Office in ensuring compliance with department, program, and Regional Office policies, procedures, and management directives. Assist in their interpretation and communication to team members. Assist in the development and updates of regional policies and procedures to ensure efficient use of resources.
- Respond to environmental release notifications and coordinate activities of Water Section team members to respond. Help manage and ensure availability of team members during emergencies.
- Complete special assignments and projects, as directed by the Regional Director. In cooperation with the Land and Air Manager and other supervisors, assist in providing backup in the absence of the Regional Director to ensure the office operates effectively.
- Communicate regularly on routine work to the Regional Director and collaborate with other programs and regions to ensure consistency.
- Attend trainings, meetings, and conference calls as required or on behalf of the Regional Director as needed or requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:
- Bachelor’s Degree with preferred degree program would include the following: Environmental Science or Technology, Chemistry, Biology, Physical Science, Geology, Soil Science, Ecology, Agriculture, Natural Resource Management, Soil Conservation, or a closely related field.
- Four to six years of relevant experience.

Training, certification, and/or education in continuous process improvement programs such as Lean Six Sigma as well as completion of Missouri Way, Leadership Academy, and similar programs is preferred.
