PART-TIME MAINTENANCE AID
This is a part-time position. Work schedule is to be determined. Our Public Works Department is looking for dedicated and hardworking individuals to join our Maintenance Division as a Facilities Maintenance Worker. The ideal candidate is a skilled professional who can confidently install, maintain, and repair commercial irrigation systems. They possess strong problem-solving skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to effectively communicate with their supervisor, colleagues, and the public.

Under the direction of the Public Works Supervisor, the Maintenance Aide performs basic maintenance and cleaning services in parks, streets, trees, and related buildings and facilities; follows established work and safety procedures; uses hand and power tools; and performs related duties as assigned.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIESThe following list of functions, duties, and tasks is typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform other closely related or department-specific functions, duties, and tasks from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.
- Plants, trims, and cultivates bushes, trees, flowers, and shrubs; eradicates weeds.
- Assists with the maintenance and preparation of playing fields.
- Operates hand and power tools and equipment and follows safety procedures.
- Rakes leaves, sweeps surfaces, and uses blowers to clear debris from walkways, fields, paths, and other facilities; picks up and removes trash.
- Assists in the set-up and removal of equipment needed for special events.
- Assists with maintenance painting and light carpentry, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical duties.
- Performs custodial functions such as vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, and cleaning of facilities and replenishment of supplies.
OTHER DUTIES:
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit and the City.
TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONSAny combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.
High school or G.E.D. and experience in the maintenance, construction, and repair of parks, medians, streets, and facilities is desirable.
LICENSE(S) REQUIRED:- Valid, current driver’s license.

Retirement - California Public Agency Retirement Services (PARS) PST Deferred Compensation Plan. Contribution to this account is 7.5% per pay period, the City pays 3.75% and the employee pays 3.75% deducted from salary. Additionally, employee pays 1.45% towards Medicare per paycheck.
Part-Time Alternative Health and Wellness (AHW) Leave -Sick leave equivalent accrues at 1 hour per 30 hours worked, max 40 hours per year, max accrual bank of 80 hours.
