GENERAL DESCRIPTION :
The mission of the Ecological & Environmental Planning Program is to collect, maintain, analyze, and disseminate data and information to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), our partners, and the public. Through our work, we facilitate data-driven, effective conservation actions for the protection of Texas' natural resources.
Under the direction of the Ecological & Environmental Planning Program Director, this position performs advanced (senior-level) administrative and supervisory program work. The Environmental Review Team Leader will lead, direct, and supervise the six-member Environmental Review Team, and team responsibilities include, but are not limited to, reviewing and providing official comments on proposed statewide development projects, providing support and technical expertise related to internal compliance tasks, and contributing to various scales of conservation discussions related to offsetting human-induced impacts on natural resources. The Environmental Review Team Leader will ensure cross-functional collaboration and effective coordination within TPWD and with local, state, and federal agencies, private landowners, non-governmental organizations, corporations, regional planners, project proponents, and consultants. Establishes procedures, processes, and protocols to address staff and business needs and policies. Facilitates delivery of official department responses to public commenting opportunities, provides support to senior and executive leadership, and assists with legislative tasks. Collaborates with the Texas Natural Diversity Database and Landscape Ecology Program. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as required. Complies with all Agency, Division, and Branch rules, regulations, and procedures.

Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education :
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Wildlife Science, Wildlife Management, Conservation Biology, Natural Resource Management, Forestry, Engineering, Environmental Law, or closely related field.
Experience :
Five years of professional experience in natural resource management, planning, and implementation.
Two years of professional experience related to assessing environmental impacts of projects.
Experience effectively leading and overseeing a team or workgroup in either a formal or informal capacity and/or experience that shows increasing use of initiative, independent judgement, and the ability to navigate complex tasks to reach favorable outcomes.
NOTE : Experience may have occurred concurrently.
Licensure :
Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid class "C" Texas driver's license.
NOTE : Retention of position contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required license.
