$22.77- $30.75 per hour with a hiring range of
$22.77 - $26.76, depending on qualifications and experience.

Essential Functions: - Ensures efficient use of time and resources to perform assigned tasks and projects associated with the Urban Forestry section including safe and proper operation of related tools and equipment.
- Performs tree inventory.
- Work order management.
- Addresses tree issues, diagnosis and treatment, pest management and inspection
- Tree planting.
- Customer focused engagement.
- Works as an effective part of the team. Respond to change and special needs with adaptability, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
- Takes initiative to resolve conflicts with others independently.
- Maintains dialogue and effective working relationships with the public, special interest groups and City staff on a constructive level by employing effective interpersonal skills.
- Communicate information for internal documenting, reporting and planning related to the Urban forestry Program.
- Respond to requests and address municipal code violations, citizen complaints and service requests.
Other Job Functions: - May supervise part year maintenance staff, as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Education: - Associates Degree in Forestry or closely related field required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Experience: - 2 years experience in urban forestry most closely related to the essential job functions including equipment operation, tree identification, tree planting and tree inventory required.
An equivalent combination of education and or experience may substitute for education requirements on a year for year basis. Certifications: - Must possess a valid driver's license.
- ISA Certified Arborist certification required
- ISA Tree Worker preferred
- CPR and First Aid certification required within six (6) months of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Identify regional tree species.
- Safely operate a variety of equipment and hand tools in an urban setting including chain saws, stump grinder, brush chipper, tractors, backhoe, trailers and non-CDL dump trucks while using proper traffic control devices and personal protective equipment.
- Communicate effectively, efficiently, and professionally with co-workers, special interest groups and the general public.
- Follow verbal and written instructions to independently complete assignments and projects with minimal supervision.
- Traverse all city properties with various topographical conditions to perform varied daily responsibilities for the position.
- Use a personal computer, tablet and cell phone and associated hardware and software, including any related to Loveland’s tree inventory and work order management database.
- Work weekends or long hours when required including during special events or for emergency response.
- Read and interpret documents including best management practices, maintenance instructions, municipal codes, and licensing standards.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions: - Frequent s trenuous to extreme physical effort that includes frequent use of heavy objects (e.g., 50+ pounds) and may also use heavy tools or require strenuous application in awkward positions.
- Frequent e xposure to marginal to moderate conditions that are unpredictable and may lead to injury.
- Frequent e xposure to heat and noise along with working outside in the elements.
- Frequent e xposure to hazardous conditions that may lead to workplace injury such as working in heights, exposure to fly ash and/or energized electrical equipment.
