Position DescriptionThe Tacoma Fire Department is seeking a motivated, analytical professional who is interested in challenging and varied work as a full-time Business Services Analyst, Associate for the EMS Prevention & Outreach Division. Under the direction of the TFD CARES Business Services Manager, you will play a significant role in the decisions made by TFD leadership for daily program operations and community prevention strategies by providing analytical, planning, and administrative insight of EMS utilization and community education efforts on appropriate use of 911 EMS services.

Key Responsibilities:- Maintain and ensure the accuracy of patient health records and program data, including input, review, and evaluation of data and reports.
- Develop, compile, and analyze statistical and technical data to support reporting and program evaluation.
- Design and maintain clear, informative dashboards and reports to monitor performance metrics using best practices.
- Conduct studies on clinical program efficiency and productivity, providing recommendations for improvement.
- Support patient navigation by processing referrals, organizing patient records, and coordinating care with external providers.
- Participate in community outreach, including planning and delivering trainings with supporting materials and metrics.
- Attend meetings with partner agencies to support efficient management of non-emergent 911 high utilizers.
Qualifications Minimum Education* Bachelor's degree public or business administration or directly related field
Minimum Experience* 1 year of patient records management, or database maintenance work in area related to assignment
1 year experience in data collection, analysis, and error resolution is preferred
*Equivalency: 1 year of experience = 1 year of education
Knowledge & Skills- Knowledge of patient privacy laws and health information standards, including HIPAA compliance.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to actively listen and engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in data management, analysis, reporting, and visualization using tools such as Excel, Access, and Tableau.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines with strong organizational skills.
- Experience with health information systems and software in a medical or clinical environment.
- Familiarity with public health education and community outreach methods, including preparation of training materials.
- Understanding of basic research methods and trend analysis for healthcare data.

The CARES Program purpose is improving public safety and is a long-term strategic initiative for the department. CARES assists citizens to navigate the appropriate levels of care and services so that can improve their health and remain safe in their home, not relying on 911 EMS for non-emergent medical needs.
