Job Description
Located between San Francisco and Sonoma wine country, spanning 28 square miles, the City of Novato (pop. 53,000) is the northernmost city in Marin County. Novato offers a rural atmosphere with an extensive amount of open space. With a team of 7 staff, the Building Division manages the review, issuance, and inspection of building permit applications.
Novato seeks an experienced building professional who enjoys working in a collaborative, dynamic team environment. They will bring knowledge of best practices in building code applications, permitting technologies, and the ability to lead change. As a hands-on manager, they will lean in where needed to support staff to ensure critical projects are completed.

Job Requirements
Competitive candidates will bring five years of increasingly responsible experience in the design, construction, and inspection of public, commercial, and residential buildings, including two years of supervisory experience. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is highly desired. A valid ICC CBO Certification and a California Driver’s license are also required.
