Role
Yavapai County Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking a Systems Engineer III to join our Team!
The Systems Engineer III is responsible for engineering, implementation, and maintenance tasks of virtualized server environments and enterprise storage systems. This position ensures high availability, security, and performance of compute infrastructure supporting county-wide services. The engineer will work closely with networking, security, and application teams to deliver resilient and scalable systems in alignment with organizational objectives.
Ideal candidate will possess s trong analytical and problem-solving skills, e xcellent written and verbal communication abilities and the a bility to prioritize work independently and deliver results under pressure.

Major Duties, Responsibilities- Oversees the ensuring of network/system availability to include all centralized and internet-based resources; communicates status of requested services to county-wide departmental liaisons. Services include (but not limited to): responds to service calls, provides technical expertise, and ensures timely resolution of customer reported problems.
- Oversees small to medium individual and multi-department projects within the ITS project portfolio while observing established ITS project management procedures. Using appropriate technology, creates project deliverables as specified for the project; examples include a requirements document, statement of work, test plans and diagrams.
- Collaborates with county-wide IT stakeholders to define requirements and translate such business needs into technical solutions; provides recommendations for software and/or systems.
- Designs, develops, tests, and maintains custom systems; prepares test plans for assigned systems and develops test data and tests procedures for those systems.
- Prepares and maintains customer and internal documentation.
- Assists in providing technical assistance and training to junior staff.
- Provides level III technical expertise.
- Performs varied systems analysis, configuration, and implementation work.
- Assists in developing departmental standards and procedures; complies with all County and departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintains expertise in current technologies.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field.
Experience:
A minimum of four (4) years of experience in information technology or related field. An equivalent combination of directly related work experience and education may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-per-year basis.
Additional Requirements:
Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
