The Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH) seeks a
Certification Specialist. This position is domiciled in
Jefferson City, Missouri, at the Department's Central Office location.The Program Specialist within the Certification & Monitoring Unit is responsible for conducting certification surveys, program monitoring, contract compliance and providing technical assistance for substance use disorder and mental health treatment programs within the State of Missouri.
This position may require travel and overnight stays as necessary.
Salary up to $52,723.92 annually, commensurate with education and experience.
- Plan, implement and conduct certification surveys for provider organizations throughout the state of Missouri.
- Assist in the clinical utilization review of services based on service delivery patterns and outcome measures of organizations funded by Behavioral Health.
- Coordinate and provide technical assistance and training for provider organizations.
- Participate in organized workgroups and trainings pertaining to Behavioral Health initiatives.
- Coordinate monitoring activities with other DBH monitoring units to include participation in cross training.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the Code of State Regulations (CSRs).
- Be familiar with Medicaid service manuals and maintain working knowledge.
- Be familiar with national accrediting bodies, their processes, and determination of program accreditation.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
- Regularly review and analyze contracts to ensure all parties are adhering to the terms and conditions.
- Monitor contractor performance and progress to ensure adherence to timelines, deliverables, and quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Identify and address potential issues, while also maintaining accurate documentation and communication with stakeholders.
- Prepare reports and presentations on contract performance and progress.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
A bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field or four years of progressive professional experience.
A master’s or bachelor’s degree in a relevant clinical area, with experience in the treatment of individuals with substance use disorders and/or mental illness is preferred.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate a working knowledge of state/federal regulations, evidence-based practices, standards of accrediting bodies and contractual agreements that govern behavioral health organizations certified by the Department of Mental Health. Sound judgement and strong independent decision-making skills are needed to be successful in this role.
