What You'll Be DoingThe Department of Social Services is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive
Department Business Manager to drive the financial, operational, and administrative backbone of our agency. This position plays a crucial behind-the-scenes role in keeping services running smoothly by managing budgets, contracts, HR coordination, and compliance activities.
You’ll
work alongside the Director of Social Services to shape and implement internal strategies that align with county-wide goals. From streamlining processes and maximizing funding to overseeing reporting and supervising business office staff, your work will ensure our department operates with efficiency, transparency, and accountability. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex operational puzzles, improving systems, and supporting those on the front lines of service.

The Basics (Required Education and Experience) - Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Human Services or a related field
- Six years of experience working in public administration or social services administration including at least two years of supervisory experience

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) - Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field
- Five years of human services experience specializing in finance, budgeting, policy or management analysis
- Familiarity with federal, state, and grant funding processes
How Will We Know You're 'The One'? - Strong financial management skills, including forecasting, budgeting, and revenue tracking
- Experience overseeing HR functions, including hiring, evaluation, and staff development
- Ability to analyze data for strategic decision-making and operational planning
- Skilled in managing compliance, contracts, and regulatory reporting
- Effective communicator and collaborator with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills with a focus on accountability and performance

Hiring Range: 84,519 - 118,322 Commensurate with Experience
