    Overview

    We’re looking for a strategic and service-driven leader to guide environmental health efforts in one of Colorado’s most vibrant and scenic counties. As our Environmental Health Services Director, you’ll oversee a broad range of programs-from food safety, school and childcare inspections, and air and water quality, to solid and hazardous waste management, environmental planning, zoonosis, and emergency preparedness.

    This is a high-impact role responsible for shaping policy, enforcing public health regulations, and driving community education. You’ll collaborate with public agencies, community partners, and residents to protect and enhance the health of our environment. The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking professional with strong technical expertise, a commitment to health equity, and the ability to lead through change.

    Qualifications

    • Five (5) years of experience performing technical, administrative, and supervisory duties in a public health/environmental health agency, required.
    • Bachelor's Degree with 30 hours coursework in basic and natural sciences, required. Basic sciences include life sciences, natural sciences, physical sciences, or health sciences.
    • Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire required.

    Round one interviews will take place virtually on August 27. Round two interviews will take
    place in person on September 8. Selected candidates must be available for both dates.

    The Department of Health and Environment has a vaccine requirement. Successful candidates will be required to comply with the vaccine requirements or request a waiver.

    This is an appointed position. Appointed employees are “at will” and may be separated from employment at any time with or without cause.
