    This is specialized professional work assisting with the coordination of activities for the Response Division within the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).

    Job Description:

    • Work part of your week out of the SEMA Warehouse maintaining equipment, loading/unloading trucks, maintaining a current inventory of warehouse disaster supplies, and other duties as assigned in the warehouse. Operating warehouse equipment such as manual pallet jacks, powered pallet jacks, and forklifts. Maintain the Salamander Inventory and Personnel Control System.
    • Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) Coordinator: Develops and runs the EMAC Program for the state. This entails training A-Team Members and EMAC Volunteers on a recurring basis, Monitoring the EMAC Operating System (EOS) for Resource Requests, and making offers to states requesting assistance.
    • Emergency Support Function (ESF) 7 - Works on the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) floor during an activation to resolve logistics issues. This entails resolving resource requests entered into WEBEOC (online tool for information sharing and resource request tracking during emergencies, disasters, significant events and daily operations).
    • Surplus Manager: Prepares surplus property for Office of Administration (OA)/Surplus to dispose of excess SEMA property.
    • Conduct County Emergency Preparedness Assessments by providing in-person meetings between State and local subject matter experts to discuss and analyze local hazard and capability information and potential resource gaps. SEMA provides a facilitator and scribe for each session. From there, the planner compiles and provides a county emergency preparedness assessment to help local officials understand current capabilities and where to address needs that would fill any gaps including future planning, training and exercise activities.
    • Ability to preform preventive maintenance on utility vehicles, pick up trucks, medium duty trucks, generators, pumps, light towers, sandbagging machine and other equipment as assigned.
    • Keep detailed records of all maintenance preformed on any equipment owned or used by SEMA.
    • Exercises considerable independence, judgment, and initiative; receives general administrative direction; work is reviewed through conferences, reports, and achieved results.
    • Ability to preform light building maintenance in an office or warehouse setting.
    • Ability to drive a light duty to medium duty truck and the ability to tow equipment or cargo trailers up to 20 feet long.
    • All other duties as assigned.


    This description may not include all the duties, knowledge, skills, or abilities associated with this position. The position requires the ability to work in a warehouse setting lifting boxes of various dimensions and weights not to exceed (40 lbs.) for extended periods of time. Normal work hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. However, overtime or unusual working hours are required during an emergency event. Occasional same day or overnight travel is required.

    Typical Qualifications:

    Being mechanically inclined, Ability to understand directives and successfully complete these directives. Ability to navigate the State of Missouri. Prior experience in logistics.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Knowledge of federal and state laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures applicable to the assigned program or operation.
    • Skill in the analysis and interpretation of information and data, and presentation of recommendations.
    • Knowledge of assigned specialized area or multiple agency areas.
    • Ability to plan, organize, and complete complex assignments.
