OverviewWe’re Hiring: Family Time Case Manager (TEMP)!
The Larimer County Department of Human Services is looking for a temporary Family Time Case Manager to join our Children, Youth and Family (CYF) Division. This is a meaningful role that supports families navigating difficult circumstances, and we’re looking for someone motivated, compassionate, and committed to helping parents and children build stronger relationships.
As a Family Time Case Manager, you’ll support parents whose children are involved in the child welfare system due to abuse or neglect. You’ll supervise and encourage safe, positive family time, helping parents strengthen bonds with their children while developing their parenting skills. In this role, you’ll be part of a collaborative team that includes caseworkers, attorneys, treatment providers, kinship and foster families, and the families themselves. You may also assist with related tasks, such as transporting children to scheduled visits.
This is a part-time, temporary position with a flexible schedule. Hours vary from 12:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays. You’ll also attend weekly team meetings on Wednesdays from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. The position is primarily community-based, with the option to work remotely part-time. You’ll be required to work in the office at least one day per week. To support remote work, you must have reliable internet access and a suitable home workspace. Larimer County provides a remote work stipend to help with equipment and supplies.

ResponsibilitiesWhat you'll be doing:
- Supporting safe, supervised, and educational parenting time between children and their parents
- Evaluating parenting strengths and challenges, and coaching parents to build skills and confidence
- Promoting child safety by focusing on the Six Protective Factors: nurturing and attachment, understanding child development, parental resilience, strong social connections, access to community support, and children’s social-emotional competence
- Collaborating with caseworkers, legal representatives, caregivers, service providers, and family support networks
- Providing transportation for children to and from family time as needed
- Documenting interactions and observations clearly and promptly after each family contact
- Participating in team-based family support meetings, including Family Unity Meetings, Family Group Conferences, and Permanency Round Tables
- Attending required unit meetings, individual supervision, and group supervision sessions
- Facilitating in-person parenting time for incarcerated parents at the Larimer County Detention Center
- Coaching and guiding kin and non-traditional kin to provide safe, supportive family timeProvide safe, educational, and supervised parenting time for children in out-of-home placement and their parents

- Knowledge of family dynamics, child development, and effective parenting strategies
- Understanding of abuse, neglect, and safe, appropriate parent education
- Experience working with parents facing substance use, mental health challenges, legal issues, and complex family systems
- Ability to work effectively with children who have experienced trauma
- Familiarity with social services programs, including principles of case management and service planning
- Knowledge of community resources and how they relate to client needs
- Strong observation, assessment, and documentation skills
- Ability to contribute to and implement service plans
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to respond appropriately to crises and manage conflict situations
- Skilled in time management and scheduling multiple appointments efficiently
- Ability to maintain timely and accurate records of work performed
- Safe driving skills and understanding of proper passenger restraint techniques
- Ability to act as a credible witness when testifying in court

- Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university required. Combination of education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Driver's License.
