Current vacancy is with the Registrar of Voters located in Visalia. The anticipated life of the list is six months.Typical Duties- Assist the public and community groups by phone or in-person on laws and procedures to be followed for filing nomination paperwork for an elected position, filing initiatives, referendums and recall petitions.
- As a deputized clerk, administers and processes Oaths of Office.
- Process voter registration and statewide petitions, including affidavits of registration in the Elections Management System (EIMS)Review and file campaign statements and statements of economic interest in the eCampaign and eDisclosure system.
- Receive and process nomination papers after reviewing the documents for completeness and collect required filing fees, and candidate statement fees.
- Receive petitions for filing and complete signature verifications by the required due dates as indicated by the Secretary of State.

Minimum QualificationsMinimum qualifications are used as a guide for establishing the education, training, experience, special skills and/or license which are required and equivalent to the following.
Education: - Equivalent to completion of the twelfth(12 th ) grade.
Experience: - One (1) year of increasingly responsible experience performing journey level clerical duties with at least six months of word processing equipment operations experience.
Knowledge of: - English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
- Alphabetical, numerical, and non-numerical filing systems and procedures.
- Laws and regulations governing the registration of voters and the conduct of elections in the State of California.
Skill/Ability to: - Work and communicate effectively with people of various education and socioeconomic backgrounds by respecting beliefs, interpersonal styles and behaviors of both clients and co-workers.
- Operate contemporary office equipment inclusive of computer, keyboard, and all applicable electronic equipment.
- Work with minimum supervision.
- Read, interpret, explain and apply provisions of the election code to specific situations.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, officials of other agencies and members of the public.
License or Certificate: - Must be a citizen of the United States and be eligible to vote.

Vacation Accrual: 2 weeks per year (0-3 years of service)

Limit of 300 hours.
Sick Leave Accrual: 12 days per year with unlimited accumulation, 60 hours of which may be used toward family sick leave.
