The Bureau of HIV, STD, and Hepatitis (BHSH) is seeking a Public Health Program Specialist to serve as a program coordinator for hepatitis B (HBV) and hepatitis C (HCV) prevention. The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.
- Serve as a content expert regarding HBV and HCV; including disease process, risk factors, transmission, prevention, testing, and available treatment.
- Assist Missourians with HBV and HCV with finding resources for testing, treatment, and payment options, and serve as a liaison between client and clinical agencies.
- Identify hepatitis testing, linkage to care, and treatment resources for Missouri. Evaluate locations or regions with low resources and make program recommendations to address the lack of resources.
- Serve as co-chair in the Missouri Hepatitis Elimination Planning Committee.
- Create, present, and assist the Viral Hepatitis Prevention Program and Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Program in various projects such as outreach, educational presentations, conferences, and media campaigns. Audiences include the general public, health care providers, and community-based organizations.
- Assist in establishing partnerships and providing technical assistance to external stakeholders in order to leverage resources for the promotion of viral hepatitis prevention activities throughout Missouri. External partners may include Department of Corrections,
- Community Based Organizations, Federally Qualified Health Centers, Community Health Centers, Local Public Health Agencies, Hospitals, and other health care providers, etc.
Collaborate with other bureau programs, state agencies, local public health agencies to incorporate hepatitis B and C into existing programs. - Analyze viral hepatitis data trends and make recommendations for program implementation based on those trends.
Minimum Qualifications: - The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, and be comfortable with conducting client interviews and presenting information to large groups of people.
- Previous experience and knowledge of public health functions and essential services are beneficial.
- Previous viral hepatitis, STD, HIV or communicable diseases knowledge and/or the impacts on populations that are affected is preferred.
- Three or more years of professional experience in case management, public health, mental health, environmental health, education, social services, public or business administration, health care, and/or health care administration. Substitutions may be considered.
- Expertise in working with diverse populations and stakeholders on complex subject matter.
- Some travel will be required for conferences, trainings, program oversight, and/or client services.
- Bachelor's degree and four or more years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed)
