What You'll Be DoingThe Department Fiscal Operations Section is a vital hub of financial activity, made up of three key units: Billing and Receivables, Grants, and Disbursements.
As a
Senior Accounting Technician, you’ll be at the heart of our fiscal engine-processing a high volume of detailed accounts payable transactions with precision and efficiency. Your day-to-day will include reviewing and handling invoices, travel reimbursements, requisitions, purchase receiving reports, cash deposits, and contract encumbrances-all in alignment with established fiscal policies and procedures.
You’ll collaborate closely with a wide range of stakeholders, including County supervisors, front-line staff, internal team members, and external merchant vendors. This role offers a dynamic environment where attention to detail, communication, and adaptability are key. Additional responsibilities may be assigned, offering opportunities to grow and contribute across the department.
NOTE: A criminal background and credit check will be conducted.
The essential functions for the Senior Accounting Technician position include:
- Review and process a high volume of invoices, requisitions, receiving reports, monthly and quarterly board stipends, interdepartmental charge allocations, and contract encumbrance payments, via an automated financial system
- Research and resolve various accounts payable discrepancies
- Prepare fiscal reports
- Reconcile multiple accounts
- Process fiscal year-end transactions
- Provide technical assistance and/or fiscal training
- Other duties include cross training, and special projects

The Basics (Required Education and Experience) - High school diploma or GED
- Three years of job-related experience
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) - Proficient working knowledge of financial data entry programs
- At least four (4) years of accounts payable experience in County or State Government
- Intermediate proficiency and three (3) years Microsoft Office experience
- Experience in conducting fiscal training sessions and/or audit reviews
- Advanced problem-solving skills
