Children and Families Commission - First 5 San Bernardino is seeking a Community Engagement Assistant- Contract* to assist the Community Engagement Coordinator. The Community Engagement Assistant (CEA) supports First 5 San Bernardino at various community events throughout the county, often attended by hundreds of families with young children. CEA’s role ensures a strong F5SB presence by providing valuable resources and education focused on children ages 0-5 and their families. With multiple events happening each month, it is essential for the CEA's to engage the community and promote F5SB’s mission.
Essential duties include but are not limited to:- Assist with set-up for community events
- Assist with packing materials for community events
- Manning the F5SB resource table
- Guest and vendor assistance as needed
- Communicate a variety of messages for F5SB campaigns related to small children such as:
- Child Safety
- Early Literacy
- Oral Health
- Youth engagement activities:
- Reading
- Playing games
- Assist with large and small motor activities
- Assist with arts and crafts
NOTE: This is a part-time position with a maximum of 19 hours per week. It does not include benefits and does not attain regular county employee status.
This is a contract, position and serves at the pleasure of the Children and Families Commission and the Appointing Authority.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Work Schedule: Employees are on-call as necessary and will be required to work evenings, and weekends.
Physical: This position requires lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds as well as frequent walking, standing, kneeling, stopping, climbing, and navigating through uneven terrain.
Travel: Travel throughout San Bernardino County is required. At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced and maintained throughout employment.
Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must undergo a background investigation, which includes fingerprinting and a medical exam.
Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is unable to consider candidates who require Visa Sponsorship at this time or in the future. Candidates must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment.
