Position Description Contributes to the university's mission through teaching, research and service, some variation by academic unit. Major/Essential Functions Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical condition Utilizes specialists and referrals as appropriate Trains and supervises residents and medical students as appropriate. May manage the daily operations of a specific medical program, patient care unit, or research function Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives and safety environment, and/or infection control standards As appropriate to the position, participates in specified health promotion, education and/or prevention programs May cover Covenant Vascular Call as directed Performs miscellaneous and job-related duties as assigned Required Qualifications MD/DO degree Board certified in Surgery Academic degree as defined by the academic unit and as appropriate for the position held. Demonstrated record of effectiveness as a teacher, a record of peer reviewed publication and/or peer-reviewed creative activity which has contributed to the discipline or field of study, to the candidate's intellectual and artistic development, and to the quality of the academic enterprise; a record of professional service appropriate to the discipline; promise of growth in teaching and research or artistic and creative activity Required Attachments Resume / CV Pay Statement Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as, the institutional pay plan.
