Job Description and Duties Under the general direction of the Bureau of Firearms (BOF) Staff Services Manager (SSM) I of the Legislation Unit (LU), the incumbent serves as the Bureau's legislative liaison and general information expert in the area of state and federal firearms laws and regulations. The Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA) is responsible for coordinating and reviewing legislative bill analyses within the bureau, promulgating regulations, developing legislative proposals on behalf of the BOF, and working with the Deputy Attorney General (DAG) assigned to the BOF to respond to Information Practices Act (IPA) and Public Records Act (PRA) requests. The AGPA researches firearms laws/regulation and drafts policy recommendations for BOF management relative to the implementation of new legislation and ongoing operations of existing BOF administrative, regulatory, and enforcement programs. The AGPA assists BOF enforcement and program staff with regulatory analysis and legislative interpretation of bill analyses. The AGPA will act as a back up to other analysts in the section as needed. Under direction of the Staff Services Manager I in the Forensic Services Division, the Associate Governmental Program Analyst performs a variety of analytical assignments to support the Incompetent to Stand Trial (IST) Re-Evaluation Program referrals in an accurate and timely manner. Work with external agencies to ensure IST referrals are completed prior to the individual’s release from prison. Incumbent may be subpoenaed to testify in court. The Incumbent will be responsible for: - Monitor and update tracking system for re-evaluation referrals - Analyze IST evaluator panel to distinguish most efficient and economical approach to address the IST waitlist. - Facilitate referrals to IST evaluators with consideration of turnaround time, capacity thresholds and allotted funds designated to each contractor.
