Asst/Assoc/Full Professor - Division Chief - Cardiology Lubbock 33263BR Position Description The Department of Medicine of the School of Medicine at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, TX is seeking applicants and nominations for an academic cardiologist to serve as the Chief of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine. As a preeminent clinician, scholar, educator and administrator, the Chief is eligible for a named endowed chair in cardiology affiliated with this role. One of the divisions within the largest department in the School of Medicine, the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine is comprised of ten faculty members across the full spectrum of cardiovascular care and research. The division also hosts more than 12 fellows in general and interventional cardiology, with an electrophysiology fellowship program in development. Until recently, the Chair of the Department of Medicine, Dr. Scott Shurmur, held both the role of Department Chair and Division Chief. Given the growth of both the Department and Division, this role is newly created and comes at a particularly exciting and dynamic time. Rank of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor and applicable salary are dependent upon candidate's qualifications and experience. Major/Essential Functions The Division Chief of Cardiovascular Medicine will work collaboratively with clinical, academic, and administrative leaders within the department, the school of medicine and with Texas Tech Physicians, the faculty practice plan, to advance the mission of excellence in clinical care, education, research, and community engagement, while further elevating the stature of the division in the state, the region and nationally. The ideal candidate will be a visionary and distinguished academic cardiologist with a robust record of research, education, clinical care and service. The incumbent will have demonstrated strong leadership skills and a track record of collaboration, combining an exceptional research background and clinical acumen with superb communication skills and emotional intelligence. Building on an inspiring strategic vision and a dedication to mentorship, the next Chief of Cardiovascular Medicine will be asked to develop the next generation of physician scientists, to commit to fostering an environment of clinical excellence, humanism and curiosity.
