The Job Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is recruiting for Sterile Processing Technicians who performs a variety of sterile processing procedures ranging from decontaminating, sterilizing, inspecting, testing, packing, and issuing medical supplies, equipment and instruments. POSITION ANNUAL SALARY Sterile Processing Technician Trainee $35,422.40 - $47,507.20 Sterile Processing Technician I $36,920.00 - $50,731.20 Sterile Processing Technician II $38,771.20 - $53,248.00 ARROWHEAD REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER Located on a beautiful 70-acre campus in Colton, California (50 miles east of Los Angeles), Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is a state-of-the-art, public/nonprofit, 456-bed, university affiliated teaching hospital licensed by the State of California Department of Public Health and accredited by The Joint Commission. The hospital houses a regional burn center serving four counties (San Bernardino, Riverside, Mono and Inyo), a comprehensive stroke center, level I trauma center and a freestanding in-patient behavioral health center. Additionally, ARMC operates five community-based, primary care clinics and over 40 specialty care outpatient services. ARMC is the primary teaching hospital for the adjacently located California University of Science and Medicine (CUSM), the Inland Empire's newest medical school. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Pre-Employment Process: Applicants selected for these positions must pass a background investigation which includes drug testing, fingerprinting, and verification of employment history. Availability: Incumbents may be required to work various shifts, holidays, n ight shift, weekend, on-call and call-back. Physical: Physical agility requirements include good vision and color discrimination; fine hand manipulation and finger dexterity in both hands; working and/or reaching above and below shoulder level; using either foot to operate foot controls; ability to move up to fifty (50) lbs. manually or with assistance. Environment: Work environment involves exposure to electricity, chemicals, infectious materials, heat, and odors. Trainee: Candidates hired into the Trainee level must receive a satisfactory work progress report upon completion of 1040 Trainee hours or be terminated. Vaccination Requirement: Per the December 24, 2021 updated CA State Public Health Officer Order, all workers who provide services or work in facilities described in subdivision (a) of the order, including clinics and doctor offices, must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. In addition, CDPH Public Health Officer Orders updated on February 22, 2022 requires all workers in health care settings currently eligible for boosters, who provide services or work in the impacted facilities must be "fully vaccinated and boosted" for COVID-19 by March 1, 2022. Minimum Requirements REQUIRED EXPERENCE AND CERTIFICATES Sterile Processing Technician Trainee Candidates must qualify under one of the following options: OPTION 1: Six (6) months experience in a role that includes a combination of the following responsibilities: Sanitizing, ordering, receiving, inspecting, storing, cataloging, delivering, issuing, and inventorying of a wide variety of supplies, materials, legal evidence, and equipment for an organization. OPTION 2: Enrollment in one of the following certification programs: National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTA) Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) Only accepted in conjunction with the completion of a Sterile Processing Technician course from an accredited agency. *NOTE: If applying under Option 2, proof of current enrollment status must be attached to your application. Sterile Processing Technician I Candidates must qualify under one of the following options: OPTION 1: Six (6) months experience as a Sterile Processing Technician in an acute care hospital. Experience must have been obtained with the past two (2) years. OPTION 2: Provisional Certification* through the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) in any one of the following: National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTA) Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) Only accepted in conjunction with the completion of a Sterile Processing Technician course from an accredited agency. *NOTE: Provisional Certification means you have successfully passed the certification examination and are now in process of obtaining the required 400 hours of hands-on experience required for full certification. Sterile Processing Technician II Candidates must meet both of the following options: EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician in an acute care hospital operating sterilizing equipment and cleaning surgical instruments and equipment. - AND - CERTIFICATION: Must possess certification as a Sterile Processing/Central Service Technician through the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) in any one of the following: National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTA) Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) Only accepted in conjunction with the completion of a Sterile Processing Technician course from an accredited agency. ***If applying under an Education Option, you MUST attach your certificate or transcripts confirming that you are currently enrolled in one of the accepted programs listed*** ***If applying under an Experience Option, you MUST include all detailed work history in the Work Experience section of the online application*** Selection Process Applications will be competitively evaluated for all levels based on the information provided on the application and supplemental application.
