Denver Human Services' Financial Services Division (FSD) is excited to hire an Accounting Supervisor. The Accounting Supervisor will play a critical role in processing Denver Human Services' high volume of transactions made using various procurement methods. The Accounting Supervisor will serve as a subject matter expert in accounting, supervise multiple employees, and ensure transactions comply with relevant rules. The Accounting Supervisor will report to the Fiscal Administrator II overseeing the Accounting and Budget unit of Denver Human Services' Financial Services Division. The Financial Services Division of Denver Human Services values strong leadership abilities as well as technical accounting skills. The ideal candidate would enjoy learning in a fast-paced environment with changing requirements and possess experience with a variety of funding sources such as grants or human services programs. Overall, the Accounting Supervisor will: Oversee general accounting functions for Denver Human Services, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, travel booking, and gift card/RTD ticket/pass issuance and tracking. Supervise the Fiscal Operational Supervisor I managing Accounting Technicians. Ensure transactions are processed in accordance with the City's Fiscal Accountability Rules and, when applicable, federal Uniform Guidance. Oversee financial reconciliations. Supervise Staff/Associate Accountants performing bank account reconciliations, EBT card reconciliations, gift card/RTD ticket/pass reconciliation, etc. Ensure reconciliations are accurate. Oversee usage of P-Card and requisitions to purchase order transactions. Supervise the Operational Coordinator approving P-Card transactions and entering requisitions. Ensure procurement methods are in alignment with the City's Fiscal Accountability Rules and, when applicable, federal Uniform Guidance. Assist program staff with understanding transaction requirements and using the proper procurement method based on the nature and dollar amount of an expenditure. Assess current accounting processes and internal controls within Denver Human Services and identify opportunities for improvement. Develop and update financial forms, procedures, policies, guidelines, etc. and communicate these expectations to staff and other stakeholders. Collaborate with the Financial Services Division's State Reporting unit to clearly understand the purpose behind transactions so they can be accurately coded for State reimbursement. Collaborate with the Financial Services Division's budget staff to ensure transactions are processed using the proper funding source. Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders including the State of Colorado Department of Human Services, the Controller's Office in the Department of Finance, Purchasing in General Services, other DHS divisions, other Financial Services Division units, vendors, funders, etc. This position requires an online assessment or test.
