The Financial Services Division (FSD) of Denver Human Services is seeking an experienced Accounting Technician II who can multi-task and shift focus between different units in the division to provide support and reinforcement where most needed. Typically, Accounting Technicians in the FSD are assigned to a particular unit and job function. This position will be dedicated to support the General Accounting team in processing CBMS claims and issuances, and assisting the DHS Cashier Office as needed however, will float between multiple teams in the FSD as workload between them fluctuates. The individual hired into this position will need to be comfortable shifting focus frequently, learning new skills and systems quickly, and working with multiple supervisors over various functions on a daily or weekly basis. In this role, the successful candidate will perform specialized technical, administrative, and fiscal functions and activities including accounts receivable claims and invoicing including CBMS recoveries, accounts payable functions including receipting and Workday entry, cashiering, child care and child welfare payment issuance or payment authorizations and child care fiscal agreement processing. This work will primarily support the General Accounting Teams although the employee may support other financial functions managed by the division as needed. Additionally, the General Accounting Technician II will: Process data revisions including updates to client information, claims, billings, Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) transfers and other entries in CBMS, CHATS & ARMS Process manual benefit issuance or create new claims for overpaid benefits in CBMS & CHATS Interact with clients at the DHS Cashier Office and carefully and accurately handle cash and checks. Print checks and issue gift cards and RTD tickets/passes to clients and employees for distribution to clients. Review provider payments to ensure amounts are allowable, match contract rates, and have correct backup documentation. Work with child care providers with fiscal contract initiations, process manual payments, and provide customer services. Perform reconciliations of data and reports between the County and State accounting systems ensuring propriety of amount, accounting distribution and funding source. Enter, verify, and maintain data within various financial software systems and spreadsheets. Review fiscal source documents for completeness, mathematical accuracy, proper authorization, sufficiency of information, proper fund/account combinations, and the proper application of any appropriate fees, refunds, collections, taxes, or discounts. Run reports and extract data to assist with the compilation of financial summary reports, research projects, and audits for the department as requested. Conduct monthly EBT, gift card, and RTD ticket/pass counts at DHS's multiple locations. Perform other related financial duties as assigned. About You Our ideal candidate will have: Written and verbal bilingual Spanish skills Comfort running reports and working within state systems such as Trails, CHATS, CBMS, CFMS, etc. Familiarity with the department's Colorado Child Care Assistance Program (CCCAP), Child Welfare, Family and Adult Assistance, and Community Outreach & Resource Engagement programs and services. Strong office software skills including using Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access Collaborative and solutions-oriented team player-someone who enjoys learning and jumping in to assist Flexibility in scheduling and the ability to move from one task to another quickly Understanding of general ledger, journal entries, debits and credits Experience helping to develop complex procedures Strong attention to detail Ability to identify ways to improve processes Please include a cover letter with your application in the required attachment section addressing the following: Why you are interested in this position?
