The Animal Science Department within the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences at Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo, CA is seeking applications for a two-year, full-time, 12-month lecturer in Livestock Production starting August 30, 2024, ending August 31, 2026. The position involves teaching courses in swine production and other livestock production courses and disciplines appropriate to the expertise of the individual and needs of the department. The successful candidate will establish an active relationship with other university faculty and researchers, leaders in livestock production and exhibition, students, and the general public to provide information and leadership related to livestock industry issues. In addition, candidates should be able to provide practical experience and individualized student-learning opportunities such as experiential classes, undergraduate and graduate research projects and student internships. Duties may also include, but are not limited to, supervision of livestock units, undergraduate senior projects, graduate student research, student advising, and teaching graduate level courses and/or in a Master of Professional Studies or certificate program. Service activities will include participation in department, college, and university committees and instructionally related activities. Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.
