Starting Salary: Code Enforcement Officer I: $21.11 - $26.92 per hour, based on qualifications Code Enforcement Officer II: $22.29 - $28.43 per hour, based on qualifications Code Enforcement Officer I II: $23.54 - $30.02 per hour, based on qualifications NATURE OF WORK: Enforces the City code through the inspection of residential, commercial, industrial, and public properties to ensure compliance with all laws, regulations, and ordinances, in particular minimum standards for housing, zoning, land use, lot cleaning, occupational licensing and parking. Involves physically performing inspections, which involves walking, climbing, kneeling, crawling, and operating an automobile. Required to make verbal presentations before the Code Enforcement Board, Court, and Hearing Officers. WORK SCHEDULE: Varies, and employees will be required to work weekends and evenings based on Division needs. Minimum Requirements CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER I : High School Diploma or equivalent, plus (3) three years of experience in housing and zoning inspection, state or local government law enforcement, construction trades required ; or an equivalent combination of specifically related education, training, and experience. Must be able to read and understand maps, building plans, and blueprints. Must become a State of Florida Parking Enforcement Specialist within one year of employment . Probationary status may be continued until certification is obtained. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. International Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector certification preferred. Must pass background check and polygraph examination. A valid Florida Driver's License is required . CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER II : Same as Code Enforcement Officer I, above, except requires (5) five years of experience as specified. CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER II I : Same as Code Enforcement Officer II, above, except requires (7) seven years of experience as specified. VALID DRIVER LICENSE FROM ANY STATE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. VALID FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE.
