The Lifeguard/Swim Instructor I is distinguished from the Lifeguard/Swim Instructor II in that the II performs duties independently. The Position: Under general supervision, Ocean Lifeguards patrol beaches with the overall goal of providing protection to life, limb and property. Ocean Lifeguards guard an area of beach from an assigned station, patrol a section of the beach, participate in marine and other related emergencies, and make rescues and prevent marine accidents. IMPORTANT TESTING INFORMATION: Candidates must successfully pass a mandatory swim test at the Main Beach Lifeguard Tower. The employee may be exposed to outdoor temperatures occasionally below 30 degrees Fahrenheit, and occasionally exceeding 110 degrees Fahrenheit. City Contributions The City provides a Health Flex Contribution (HFC) of$600 per month that may be used for enrollment in the City’s health, dental, or vision insurance, or a health flexible spending account. Any unused portion of the HFC will be forfeited. The City offers the followingretirement plans depending upon eligibility: Classic Tier 1 Members: This category applies to employees hired by the City of Temecula before 9/24/11. The retirement formula is 2.7% @ 55 with an 8% employee contribution; however, the City pays 5% of the employee's contribution. Classic Tier 2: This category applies to employees hired by the City of Temecula on or after 9/24/11, and are considered "classic"CalPERSMembers .
