ABOUT THE POSITION The Clark County Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the position of Park Maintenance Worker I/II at Camp Lee Canyon. Camp Lee Canyon is located North of Las Vegas and this position requires the candidate to reside at Camp Lee during their work schedule. Residence will be provided. Senior Equipment Maintenance Worker positions engage in the maintenance and repair of equipment used in recreational activities, park maintenance, hospitals and facilities, fueling facilities, and a variety of other areas or activities. Positions in this class utilize hand and trade type tools in the performance of work related duties. Essential Job Functions Supervises and performs maintenance and repair of equipment and tools used in: Hospitals and institutions: autoclaves, laboratory equipment, orthopedic devices, operating tables, oxygen regulators, respirators; beds and rolling equipment; kitchen equipment such as ice machines, slicers, mixers and choppers; water distribution and sewage disposal equipment; low pressure boilers, heating and ventilating systems, pumps, etc. Calibrates of fuel quantity gauges to measure fuel delivery. Sets readings on computerized fuel monitoring systems such as Veeder Root and Auto Stik. Requisitions materials and supplies. Operates powered wood and metal working equipment. Fabricates special equipment and tools and may participate in their design. Keeps records and makes reports on repairs, repair orders, and other work related information. Exercises utmost care in the performance of duties, and uses and/or oversees subordinates' proper use of safety equipment, protective devices, and special clothing which have been provided for use while performing work assignments. Performs minor welding and blacksmith work, as required. Supervises and participates in minor building maintenance and repair including plumbing, electrical, carpentry or other work in the building trades, as required. Has immediate responsibility in a non-supervisory capacity for the maintenance and repair of a variety of complex and specialized equipment, as required. Drives automotive equipment in the performance of duties. Oils and greases equipment in absence of helper, as required. Operates equipment during relief periods, as required. Performs product examination and analysis of equipment malfunctions or mechanical failure due to various causes, as required. Occasionally works in confined spaces, or in an environment with hazardous materials, as required. Requirements MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Three years of experience in the maintenance and repair of a variety of equipment and tools.* *Examples of types of equipment and tools: autoclaves, laboratory equipment, orthopedic devices, operating tables, oxygen regulators, respirators; beds and rolling equipment; kitchen equipment such as ice machines, slicers, mixers and choppers; water distribution and sewage disposal equipment; low pressure boilers, heating and ventilating systems, pumps, etc. LICENSE A valid California Class C Driver License is needed to carry out job-related essential functions. Candidates offered these positions would be required to show proof of a driver license prior to appointment. Physical Class IV - Arduous: This class involves frequent heavy lifting over 25 pounds, often combined with bending, twisting, or working above ground on irregular surfaces. It includes those positions that occasionally demand extraordinary physical activity such as those in Safety positions. OTHER REQUIREMENTS Some assignments in this class require the use of respirators such as when working in confined spaces or in an environment with hazardous materials. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONNAIRE As part of this application process, applicants will be required to complete a supplemental questionnaire. The questionnaire contains a pre-investigative questionnaire which will be utilized as part of the background investigation process to ensure applicants meet the standards set forth by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Additional Information EXAMINATION CONTENT This examination will consist of two (2) parts. PART I An evaluation of training and experience based on application information and desirable qualifications weighted 30%. PART II An oral interview covering training, experience, and general ability to perform the duties of the position weighted 70%. CANDIDATES MUST ACHIEVE A PASSING SCORE OF 70% OR HIGHER ON THE EXAMINATION IN ORDER TO BE PLACED ON THE ELIGIBLE REGISTER. TRANSFER SCORES Applicants that have taken any identical test with the Sheriff's Department within the last twelve (12) months will have their test scores automatically transferred to this examination. This examination may be used in the future for new examinations with the Sheriff's Department. Scores will be transferred to the new examination. Candidates may not be allowed to re-take any identical test for at least twelve (12) months. ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION The names of candidates receiving a passing grade in the examination will be placed on the eligible register in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months following the date of promulgation.
