Job Description and Duties Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department is accepting applications for at least (1) permanent, full-time Senior Radiologic Technologist for the Medical Services Department in the Radiologic Clinic. Under the direction of the Chief Primary Care Services, Chief Physician and Surgeon, the Medical Services Administrator, the Senior Radiologic Technologist is responsible for the ongoing radiology services. Performs routine and emergency x-rays on all forensic patients at Patton State Hospital. Selects techniques to obtain optimum radiographic quality; critiquing film to determine whether it should be repeated or extended; being alert to patient crises requiring notification of a physician; and planning and directing the work of other radiologic technologists in a hospital setting. The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties but not limited to: Has primary responsibility to schedule and complete radiologic studies. Overall responsibility for the care and safety of patients undergoing x-ray examination, including observing patients' reactions during the test. Provides for the area's security, equipment, and those working in the department. This also includes overseeing the safety of escorts and other coworkers. Is responsible for overseeing the overall function of the Radiology Department. Maintains equipment and quarters. Maintains inventory, orders required supplies and is responsible for the storing and dispensing supplies. Accountable for assuring that the radiology department complies with the standards approved by the DSH-Patton Department of Medicine to meet the California Department of Public Health-Radiologic Health Branch and The Joint Commission requirements. Collaborate with the Senior Radiologic Technologist to perform routing and emergency x-rays on all forensic patients at Patton State Hospital. These procedures are all done within a secure compound.
