Under close supervision, incumbents receive training in performing the duties described in the series concept. This is the entry level in the series and incumbents may progress to the next level upon meeting the minimum qualifications and with the approval of the appointing authority. This recruitment may be used to hire for multiple positions within the unit. This position is within the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Analytics and is located in Carson City. This recruitment is for a Biostatistician I, underfilling the II level. Biostatisticians within the unit work with multiple agencies to review, write, revise and recommend administrative policies; issue oral and written directives in the form of policy statements and manuals; coordinate the development of new forms, work methods, and automated systems used to process information related to the program area. Perform technically complex assignments critical to agency operations; make recommendations, conduct complex, investigative and analytical studies that involve any aspect of the agency operations such as planning, research, policy development, budgeting, and legislative drafting; maintain statistical data on progress and development of the program; ensure timely and accurate preparation, interpretation of data and submission of periodic program and financial reports for stakeholders. This position is responsible for providing routine and special reports, completing data linkages and using PowerBi, SAS, and/or analytic software programming and statistical methods to complete analyses on program data. This position requires the demonstrated use of statistical methods and programs utilizing SAS or similar analytic software. This position may require travel both in and out of state up to 25%. Experience using SAS or similar analytical software is required. Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.
