Dear City of Chandler Hiring Recruiter,

I have an undeniable passion for sports. My most vivid childhood memory is a 2007 football game, watching the tribute video of my favorite player, the late Sean Taylor.  I sat in the stands with my mom looking around FedEx Field at the fans on their feet, waving their “21” Terrible Towels. I started to sob. From that moment on, I began dreaming of working in the sports field. I could see myself helping produce multimedia tributes and reporting from the sidelines.

Currently, I am a freelance Producer for the Arizona Coyotes and Diamondbacks pre/post game shows. Within this role, I am tasked with creating show formats for each pregame show, and intermissions in hockey as well as recapping what happened during the games for postgame shows. I communicate with the Director and EVS Operators to make the format come to life. Being adaptable and quick on my feet is required as we are expected to cover breaking news. Also, being a good leader goes far in this role as everyone has to be on the same page as me and I need to direct everyone on what is coming next to make sure the best possible content gets put on air.

In my Marketing Coordinator role, I was responsible for assisting with all social media platforms, putting in requests for billboards for all home and away Phoenix Suns, Arizona Coyotes and Arizona Diamondbacks’ games. In addition, I wrote tickers for all games for the broadcast, write articles and create sizzles for stadium video-boards.

Previously, I was a Digital Producer for the Washington Football Team. I produce the weekly Digital Shows, The Legacy, and the WOW! Show. In addition to filming, producing and editing a Washington Football Team recap show that airs on NBC Sports Washington, “Go Off, Washington,” in less than five hours after gameday. I was solely responsible for all Washington Football Team podcasts including, 26 Minutes with Clinton Portis, Riggo The Diesel, The Chris Cooley Show, WOW! Show and The Rundown. I also assisted in producing the television shows, (before the name change) Redskins Roundup, Redskins Kickoff Preview and Redskins Coaches Show during the season. In addition to being a Digital Producer, I am also a videographer. I use a C200 camera to shoot various events including when the 2019 Redskins draft class toured D.C.

I was also a Digital Content Producer for The Team 980, Redskins Radio Station. I live streamed the radio shows, Inside the Locker Room, and The Steve Czaban Show on Redskins.com. I edited clips using Adobe Premiere as the primary editing system then posted the clips on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and the official site of the Washington Redskins. In addition, I assisted in working the Redskins Post-Game shows during the football season.

During my summer internship with the Washington Football Team, my responsibilities included assisting in editing packages that went onto the Washington Football Team official site, as well as assisting at media day at the facility. My supervisor relied on my skills for editing, finding B-roll, logging practice footage and helping to edit television shows.

I’ve also interned at Tucson’s local CBS affiliate station and worked at the University of Arizona student run newspaper.  In addition, I served as a PAC-12 game day runner, and was previously a reporter and producer for Arizona Cat’s Eye, the School of Journalism’s newscast. My sophomore and senior year I was a sports reporter for the UA television station where I have anchored and covered softball and baseball games.

I know I would be a good fit to the City of Chandler as a Digital Media Producer and I hope, after reviewing my résumé, and clips you will agree. Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Stevie Katz
