While studying for my MPA, I have learned to be innovative, collaborative and motivated to

prepare for a career in public service. The program is enhancing my leadership skills, research

capabilities, and my knowledge of the public sector and nonprofit organizations. During my

internship for the Office of Congressman Mike Thompson, I learned critical analysis skills of the

legislative process, managed multiple publication projects, and collaborated with senior

colleagues to conduct legislative research. At the University of Oregon, I focused my studies on

political science and public policy within the United States and abroad, which allowed me to

form an essential understanding of the importance of civic engagement. 

As a current MPA student at California State Polytechnic University Pomona, I am eager to gain

real work experience in the public sector.
