Driven by my passion for empowering youth and cultivating leadership, I spearheaded the youth workforce initiative within the Twin Rivers Unified School District, a role that has allowed me to realize a longstanding aspiration. By overseeing the expansion of this program, I have been able to contribute significantly to our community, with tangible successes evidenced through data and commendations from diverse stakeholders, distinguishing my program in the process.
In advocating for greater opportunities for youth engagement and leadership within expanded learning, I have showcased my initiatives via newsletters and various marketing platforms to engage stakeholders. This outreach has earned recognition from the Twin Rivers Unified School District, Sacramento County Office of Education, California Department of Education, and the cabinet of California First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom, resulting in student participation in advocacy events. Notably, students from my site actively participated in CalSac's 20th annual California Afterschool and Summer Challenge, advocating for increased funding for expanded learning. They engaged with Senator Angelique Ashby's team and local media outlets to emphasize the significance of the event.
Furthermore, students were also invited to the California Moves Day celebration hosted by First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom, where they shared insights on the importance of physical and mental well-being. Their interactions with the First Partner and local media underscored the impact of the event.
During the past two summers, I coordinated the Learn and Earn youth workforce program within the Twin Rivers Unified School District. This involved recruiting additional providers, overseeing staff and student check-ins, curriculum development, data collection, site visits, staff training, and managing participant records. Noteworthy events included a career fair where students received certificates for program completion, engaged in mock interviews to refine their skills, and explored opportunities with local colleges and parks and recreation services.
Drawing on my experience working across diverse school and district environments, coupled with my expertise in youth workforce development, I am confident in my ability to contribute meaningfully to your team. My strengths lie in program development, fostering partnerships, and amplifying youth engagement and leadership.
