Participate in training and technical conferences to remain current on supervisory role, engineering practices, and innovative treatment technologies, and effectively communicate this information to other Department engineers and engineering consultants. Develop and maintain an extensive working knowledge of federal, state and local regulations, technical principles and/or practices applicable to assigned projects and area of expertise, including the permitting process and the sampling and analysis of environmental media, groundwater monitoring programs at solid and hazardous waste management facilities, and fate and transport of contaminants in the environment. Statewide travel for periods up to one week may be required.
